MyWriMo Continues

MyWriMo @ In the Bookcase

It is sad to note that MyWriMo is almost over, though I remind myself that MyWriMo can be any month of the year. I really haven't written as much as I wanted to, but school and life took over. I have, however, thought a lot about my story/novella/I-don't-really-know-yet. I have finally figured out a key piece of the main plot. You know, I used to think that writers had the whole story mapped in their heads before they started writing, like an outline. Maybe some do, but it really doesn't have to be that way. I have written beginning chapters, ending chapters, and random in-betweens, but I have continually changed the plot line and added new details. I suppose it just takes practice. I do finally feel like this story is going to be a good one, like I can actually finish this one out. I need to do bit more researching and problem-solving, but I'm excited to see the characters "come alive."

Happy writing and reading!

I didn’t know why, but now I was angry. . . . It didn’t matter though. I had made up my mind. “Trust no one,” I whispered. I glanced up at the sky once again. The sun still slumbered.

MyWriMo from In the Bookcase

MyWriMo @ In the BookcaseNovember is the National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWriMo) for thousands of writers. It's a time to start and finish a novel of 50,000 words. Does this sound a bit daunting? It does to me! I thoroughly enjoy creative writing, but 50,000 words in one month, when I have so many other things to do, sounds impossible. Tarissa from In the Bookcase thought so too, apparently, because she started My Writing Month (MyWriMo). To see her post, click here.

The basic idea is that you choose the rules for your writing month. If you want to work on short stories, go ahead. If you choose to finish a novel, go for it!

This November I hope to continue writing a short novel I have been working on for several months. My goal isn't to finish it, but just to add and revise what I have already written. This way I can get just as much fun out of NaNoWriMo without the strict guideline.
