New Year's Resolutions for Books #3

Happy New Year! Today is the first day of 2011, and I am excited to start a new year of books. If you didn't catch my first post and second post about New Year's Resolutions for Books, here is a recap of my resolutions:

1. Keep track of the books I read in 2011 by creating a list, in a notebook and on this blog.

2. Finish all books.

And I can add to that...

3. Read more non-fiction.

I feel like I read too much fiction and not enough biographies and devotionals; mainly I want to read more biographies. It isn't that I don't learn things from fiction titles, but I feel biographies should become more enjoyable to me and less reading drudgery. In 2010 I read a couple of biographies that really gave me a glimpse into some people's lives, and I liked that. So this year, more biographies!

Happy New Year and Happy Reading!

New Year's Resolutions for Books #2

New Year's Day is fast approaching, isn't it? I suppose it is time to discuss my second New Year's resolution for books. If you didn't see my first resolution, visit the post here. My second resolution is:

2. Finish all books.

I just have a hard time finishing books. I get distracted by another title, I get bored with the story--you name it. But it is a bad habit, and I know it will be very hard to break.

It's important to finish books though, I think. There have been some books that I just didn't like until the last half, or last few chapters. Then the author added something packed with power and I loved it.

Finishing every book I start will be difficult, but I'm going to try!

New Year's Resolutions for Books #1

There is an incredible need in my life for book organization. I have just decided this. I am not referring to books being organized on shelves (though I could probably do that too), but, actually, I am more interested in mental clarity here. Why?

I don't know how many books I read in 2010.

Maybe that isn't a terrible fact, but I find it sad that I read and read and read . . . but never have an exact tally.

So, my first resolution for books is:

1. Keep track of the books I read in 2011 by creating a list, in a notebook and on this blog.

In that way, by 2011's end I will have an interesting number divulging my reading habits.

Stay tuned for #2.
