This is not a new book. It was published in 2008, only two years after a tragic car accident took the lives of five people. One family was deeply affected when they learned of the death of their daughter, Whitney Cerak. Another family was in awe of the fact that their daughter, Laura Van Ryn, survived.
Mistaken Identity is written by both families, and in it readers see them endure their journeys for five weeks. But the interest does not lie there. The most amazing, unbelievable part occurs at the end of those five weeks, when the Van Ryn family realizes that their daughter is not the girl lying in the hospital bed. She is, in fact, the Cerak's daughter Whitney.
If you have not read this book before, I dare you to read it now. I dare you to read it without tearing up and praising God. This incredible story outlines the paths that both families took as they learned to recover from a fateful day, a fateful hour. Though both families went through different trials, they both came out victorious in Christ, trusting and praising their Savior in every circumstance.
This book, this story, made me realize how blessed I am and how good God is. He will never leave us nor forsake us, even in the midst of a trying, heartbreaking time. Sometimes we can't understand the things of this life, but, thankfully, God is always near us to guide us through the hardships.

I've been quite interested in this book before... I'm glad to know more about it now! Might have to check it out sometime from the library.
